Elle Ryan presentation on feedsack quilting

Community Womens Group Inc. of Covington, Michigan has four main goals - economic opportunity, enrichment, outreach, and beautification in our community and surrounding area.  With a generous donation from the Covington Learning Center board, the CWG was able to begin several ongoing community projects including flower barrels, deliveries to shut-ins, Christmas caroling, and welcome baskets.  Classes have featured the late Carla Emery, a feedsack presentation with quilter and collector Elle Ryan, and fiber arts class by Carol Kreher.  We recently opened a community food pantry.

Our most ambitious project is the U.P. Made Artist Market which is open from early May through September.  All profits from the market go back into our community and support a number of outreach programs and local community organizations. Commission sales from the market has allowed the women's group to open a food pantry to help community residents. In 2009 the market sales expanded to include an online shopping cart for free to market members. Additional artists' products are added throughout each year.

The Community Women's Group is always open to new members.  Contact us today for more information!  906-355-2727
